Privacy Policy
Effective 16 October 2026
Battle Tac Toe (“the game”, “we”) is a tic-tac-toe battle game for iPhone and the web. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. This policy covers what stays on your device, what passes through our game server or other services when you use certain features, and who to contact.
What stays on your device
Your game progress stays on your device: XP and level, trophies, match records, Shop coins and attacks, Gauntlet and boss progress, and settings such as sound. On the website, the same information is kept in your browser's storage. We don't upload it, and we have no account system. Deleting the app, or clearing the website's data in your browser, removes it.
Playing online with friends
When you create or join an online room, our game server at battletactoe.com runs the match. It handles the room code, both players' moves and the state of the game. Rooms are kept in the server's memory only and are not saved. A room is deleted about ten minutes after everyone has left, or whenever the server restarts. Players have no names or profiles; each side is simply X or O.
Like most websites, our web server keeps standard request logs: IP address, time, the page or address requested, and browser type. We use them only for security and troubleshooting, and they are deleted automatically after 14 days.
Playing nearby
Nearby play connects two iPhones directly over the local network or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, with no internet needed. Nothing from a nearby match is sent to us. iOS asks for Local Network permission so the phones can find each other. Arenas appear under random names such as “Arena 0C50”, and a pairing code confirms you're joining the right phone. Nearby messages contain only game moves. They aren't encrypted, so play nearby with people you know.
Game Center
Connecting Game Center is optional. If you connect it, your trophy progress is sent to Apple's Game Center under Apple's privacy policy. If you don't, trophies stay on your device.
Purchases
The Full Game unlock is sold through the Apple App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see or store your card details. The app uses RevenueCat to confirm whether the Full Game is unlocked. RevenueCat receives the App Store purchase record and a random, anonymous app identifier, which is not linked to your name or Apple ID. See RevenueCat's privacy policy. The website has no purchases.
What we do not do
- We don't sell or share your information for advertising.
- We don't show ads or use analytics or tracking tools.
- We don't use cookies. The website stores your progress only in your own browser.
- We don't ask for your name, email or location.
Children
Battle Tac Toe is made for all ages and includes a Kid mode. Apart from the short-lived server logs above, the game collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Security
Online play and the website use encrypted HTTPS and secure WebSocket connections. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we keep what leaves your device to what a feature needs.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game changes. When we do, this page will show the new effective date.
